IKEA NORDLI Modular Dresser
NORDLI is IKEA's modular drawer system — you can stack and combine units like building blocks. This flexibility is great for design but adds complexity to assembly, especially when connecting modules together and ensuring the combined unit is stable.
Common Challenges
1Module-to-module connections must be tight
The interlocking brackets between NORDLI modules are the only thing preventing them from shifting apart. Tighten them fully — any play between modules compounds as you stack higher and the whole structure wobbles.
2Top panel reveals gaps if modules aren't flush
The optional top panel sits across all your modules. If one module is even a millimeter out of alignment, the top rocks or shows a visible gap. Align modules on a flat surface before connecting.
3Drawers don't have built-in stops
NORDLI drawers can be pulled all the way out and off the rails if you yank them. This is by design for cleaning, but kids and hurried adults will dump drawer contents everywhere. Consider adding aftermarket soft-close stops.

Tips Before You Start
Build all your modules individually first, then connect them as a final step. Trying to build them connected is much harder.
Use the IKEA NORDLI planner to figure out your configuration before unboxing. Once you open multiple boxes, matching parts to modules gets confusing fast.
Wall-anchor any NORDLI stack taller than two modules high. The modular design means less inherent rigidity than a single-piece dresser.
